The weather is going to be fantastic this Friday and for only $20 you will have a chance to sample items from all of the wonderful retailers and restaurants in Dundarave.

This is a fabulous event that really brings the community together and raises money for the BCSPCA and Canuck Place. The value is supurb and you will finally have a chance to explore some of the shops or eateries that you perhaps have always meant to drop by but never have been able to in the past.

Tickets can be ordered from the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce (or outlets on the above flyer) but hurry as this will most likely sell out again as it did in 2012. See you there from 5pm-8pm.

The bar method in West Vancouver has been open for one year and is located at 1760 Marine Drive. It is the second bar method in Canada (other location is 837 Beatty) and this form of exercise has already swept across the US and is gaining momentum in Canada.

However, with no advertising how in its first year does the West Vancouver location already have 500+ members? Simple...because it works and no form of advertising is as strong as word-of-mouth.

Studio Manager Danielle Dembicki and Instructor/Events Coordinator Emily Goodrich informed me that the bar method is a one hour class which has the same consistent flow each time. It is a "total body workout that combines isometrics, interval training, dance conditioning and sports rehabilitation to quickly and safely burn fat and carve muscle."

The class is high intensity with no impact, goes from head to toe with specific stretches in between each exercise that will work muscles to total exhaustion.

The bar method is for all fitness levels (beginner to high level athletes) as well as it is great for pregnant women. Besides better overall health, you will notice after only a month of consistent classes a more toned physique, reduced body fat, flatter abs, improved posture, increased stamina, a lifted seat and defined hamstrings.

The age range of this studio is anywhere from 13 to 70 years old, however, the main core of members are females in the 35-45 range. Variety is the spice of life and I am going to attend a class next week and will look to incorporate it into my weekly fitness program. I encourage you to attend a class and perhaps go with a friend...Emily and Danielle will take great care of you!

For more information about the bar method including class schedules please go to the website below.

Sounds simple enough...we tend to overcomplicate things so perhaps "pat" this rock and go for a stroll along the seawall tonight as life is pretty good here in West Vancouver.

When you enter the Bellevue Natural Health Clinic in Ambleside you immediately feel a sense of calm as you have stepped into an ecofriendly, tranquil environment. Dr. Sara Kinnon and her fabuous team make you feel at ease as they listen intently on what it is that is holding you back, and come up with a specifically tailored game plan for each patient.

Most people aren't quite sure what treaments take place in a health clinic. Lindsey Jesswein, ND explained that there are a wide variety of treatments that clients come in for including the most popular which are: hormone balancing, IV therapy as well as treating various allergies (outdoors, food etc). All IV's are prepared in-house and only supplements of the highest quality and known supply chains are carried at the clinic. While Women's Health and Mental Health make up a large share of the clients, Athletes of all kinds are taking advantage of improvements in natural health methods which improves performance and recovery.

Many people do not realize that most extended health plans cover these treatments, so why not book an initial consultation where you can sit down with an expert who will listen to you and advise on what can be done. The people at Bellevue Natural Health Clinic are so warm and inviting you will feel so welcome. From the first time you enter and are greeted by Office Manager, Stewart J. Hall you will instantly feel part of the family.

One of the places that Michael Buble calls Home is right here in West Vancouver! When Michael and his wife, Luisana are not in LA or Argentina, you may catch a glimpse of them walking on the seawall or grabbing a bite to eat at The Truffle House & Cafe in Dundarave.

As of June 30th the only way you will get to see Michael Buble in person is on his upcoming World Tour. MB begins in London, England to kick off his "To Be Loved" tour with ten (not a typo) shows, followed by five in Dublin, Ireland! After a month off MB will spend the fall touring the entire US with a stop in Seattle, WA on November 15th for those of you who cannot wait for a show in Vancouver.

We are lucky to have such a wonderful ambassador touring the world and promoting the place we call Home each and every day. Michael has given back a tremendous amount of time and money to the community and local charities and we are very grateful for this genorosity.

For more information on Michael Buble's upcoming tour as well as how to buy his new CD "To Be Loved" please go to his website link below. This is his best album yet so I encourage you to buy a copy and enjoy.

Ambleside Park is the most well known park in all of West Vancouver. Located just West of the Lions Gate Bridge, it offers 59 acres of fun for families to enjoy!

There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy at the park such as: volleyball, swimming, baseball, field hockey and soccer. Also, there is even a skateboard park and Par 3 golf course!

Many dog lovers have already found what I believe is the best dog park in the Lower Mainland as the East beach and park consisting of close to 9 acres are reserved for your hounds! They simply love it!

The sandy beach itself is 1.2 km and is a very popular spot in the summer. What is also popular year round is the Seawall Walk that begins at the East end of Ambleside Park and wraps around the waterfront all the way to Dundarave Pier. A fabulous walk along one of the nicest shorelines in the world.

If you are looking for somewhere to take your family this Victoria Day, or any day during the summer, pack a cooler, some chairs and sunscreen and make a day of it at Ambleside Park.

With records dating back to 1925, West Vancouver Fire & Rescue services has been helping keep the community of West Vancouver safe.

Four stations that are manned 24/7 are strategically positioned around our community to ensure the quickest response time should a fire, motor vehicle accident or medical emergency take place. These brave individuals work as a team and put themselves at risk to ensure the safety of others. This is the truest form of heroism!

If putting yourself in harms way to help others isn't enough, the West Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society (IAFF 1525) sets up car washes and events such as Bagpipes at the Beach to raise money for various charities.

The next time you see one of these brave young men and women be sure to say hello and thank them so very much for providing such a wonderful service for West Vancouver!

Opened in May of 2005, this amazing Performing Arts Center was the vision of one amazing woman, Kay Meek. Born in England, Kay spent most of her life in West Vancouver and wanted to ensure the children of this community had a facility such as this to enjoy that others did not in the past.

The Kay Meek Center offers year round entertainment from various genres of music, theatre, comedy and even orcestras. Below is the link the the Kay Meek Center as well as the events calendar. Also, the Center may be rented out for Private events.

http://www.kaymeekcentre.com/

If you haven't been to the Kay Meek Centre or it has been a long time since your last visit, there is nothing like seeing live music or entertainment from local or well known acts. This is a place to come together as a community and continue the legacy of the main driver behind creating such a stunning facility, Kay Meek.
