Bene Sushi Restaurant is an excellent place to enjoy sushi while entertaining clients or meeting with friends.

Their Sashimi has consistently been some of the freshest cuts I have tasted in the city and I always include Wild Salmon Sashimi as part of the Lunch Plate "C" where you get to choose your items.

Located on the south side of Marine Drive between 15th and 16th, you'll leave full, satisfied and happy that the service was great and prices were reasonable.

The Sea to Sky Highway is one of the most beautiful and pictureque stretches of pavement in the entire world. For those of us who live here sometimes we forget that this is literally in our back-yard and extends all the way to Whistler (actually it is Pemberton).

Given the highway is not what is was (thank goodness), it can be a wonderful spur of the moment thing to simply take off and drive to Whistler for a coffee, and drive home to take in a magical sunset. Sounds simple, and it is, but winding thru mountains and over the waters edge can really recharge your batteries for the week ahead.

For the more adventurous (and those in great shape), hopping on your road bike and riding to Whistler is a fantastic work-out and the views are unbeatable.

Depending on how your drive (watch out for Police!) the drive to Whistler from West Vancouver is 1 to 1 1/2 hours each way. Stop in for a bite at the Village, a swim at Rainbow beach or simply grab a coffee and head back home!

Believe it or not it is mid-August (gasp) and something that is a must-do in the summer is touring around beautiful West Vancouver and the surrounding area by boat.

Don't have a boat? Not to worry as the great people at Sewell's Marina in Horseshoe Bay can set you up. This is a wonderful and affordable way for you to show friends from out of town a day they will never forget. Also, this can be a great idea for a family, or a couple to spend some quality time together. Bring a picnic to eat before/after at Horseshoe Bay Park or dine at any of the fine local Horseshoe Bay restaurants.

You'll want to call ahead to reserve just in case and all of the information is provided in the link below. Be safe on the water and enjoy.

The Deighton Cup weekend is here and it is going to be amazing as always!

The Big Smoke takes place at 6:00pm tonight at the Hastings Race Track in Vancouver. This is a Gentlemanly affair of cigars and scotch perfect for an evening of sun which we are going to have.

The main ticket is for tomorrow's "Thoroughbred" event that kicks off at noon. Only 25 tickets are left and this is truly one of the must-attend events of the summer. Though there are 8 horseraces, these will take a back seat to the Kentucky Derby of Fashion that will take place. Women will be glammed up in fabulous dresses, big hats and elegant fascinators while the Men will be dressed as proper gentlemen. Sophisticated cocktails will be served and there will be excellent entertainment all afternoon.

For more information about the event (what is included), how to get your hands on the few tickets that are left as well as how you may get your name on the Deighton Cup as "Best Dressed" please go to the link below.

I will be there in an amazing outfit from West Vancouver's Best mens wear store, Baracos + Brand (1411 Bellevue Ave) and my wife will be in a stunning dress courtesy of Blush Bridal & Coctail Wear (1403 Bellevue Ave). If you are stuck with what to wear head down to these stores today and they will make sure you are dressed to impress.
